Poetry

Here is a collection of some of the poems I’ve written over the years.  Enjoy!

cryptic.

a puzzle

half assembled

spread out on the wooden table

beckons me.

if i finish it, i will see what it looks like.

if i don’t, it will continue to be a mystery.

yet the part of the puzzle that is missing is what intrigues me.

i fill in the cracks with my imagination

making it better than what it really is.

that satisfies me.

the unknown.

i fear that if i complete it,

i will be sorely disappointed.

The Edit Suite.

my heart.

in the edit bay.

spliced up and shredded

like it was nothing.

put together in a different way.

a way that is foreign to me.

adapting to the change

is difficult

but not impossible.

I’ll learn to move to the rhythm of a new beat

and understand the plot of my new life.

Though I don’t agree with the way the movie is made,

I can still appreciate it as a work of art.

taste.

inside

a kernel of truth

beneath the buttery surface,

artificial coating,

lies meaning.

if only i could chew through to the center

then i would be able to taste.

perfection can never be achieved.

there is always an angle to view something and discover its flaw.

you can hide from me,

you can hide from him,

you can’t hide from yourself,

the only way out is in.

stone.

A stone is just a stone

unless you bestow upon it special gifts

that make it come alive.

My stone is not an ordinary stone,

but a beacon of hope to a desperate world,

a gift from a being far greater than anything or anyone we’ve ever known.

and that gift is sitting in my garden.
