Anecdotes

Here is where I record all of the interesting things that I’ve learned along the way.  Meeting a lot of different people and working various strange jobs has taught me much about life.  Enjoy reading my stories, learning easy recipes, finding unique gifts, etc.

1999-2004:  I performed in musical theatre shows and children shows such as Oklahoma! (Ado Annie Carnes), Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat (u/s Narrator),  A Fiddler on the Roof  (Fruma Sarah), Annie (I played the title role of Annie at age 22!), Winnie-the-Pooh (Roo),  A Christmas Carol (Tiny Tim), Pinocchio (Pinocchio), Hansel and Gretel (Gretel), The Hatfield’s and McCoys (Spirit McCoy), The Sound of Music (Frau Schmidt).  I travelled the country and met a lot of interesting folks.  It was a very memorable experience to say the least.

2004-2005:  I worked as an actor in the D.C. metro area and was in movies like Two Front Teeth and musicals like One Touch of Venus (at American Century Theater).  Of course I needed a decent paying day job, so I was a temp at O’Melveny and Myers, LLP.  That’s how I got all my legal assistant job experience in!

2005-2006:  I worked at a coffee shop and taught classes in early childhood music.  All at the same time.  Then, in the fall I interned at a television production company.  Meanwhile, was also in a classical Greek play called The Phoenician Women at Natural Theatricals over the summer.  On the side, I performed at children’s birthday parties and taught guitar.  What a year!!  Boy, did I learn a lot.

2007:  I was heavily involved in television production and casting during this year.  I still taught some classes in early childhood music, guitar lessons, and performed at birthday parties.  Man, I was busy.  Over the course of the year, I decided that I wanted to settle into teaching music and performing.  Production is an overwhelming job that requires you to pull some crazy hours.  Too much for me.  Maybe I’ll use my skills one day to produce a TV show for kids….

2008:  This year I’m teaching, teaching, and teaching.  I’m going to go out and audition for shows now that I have more free time.  I just made a CD for kids…I’m a rockstar!

  2. Hello!

I discovered your blog as I was searching for commercial contests, one thing lead to another and voila, here I am leaving you a comment. That’s fantastic you’ve had a lot of work done with experiences to share. I’m also an actor and I find it great to meet another person and actor who enjoys the things I do.
