I finally did it.  I watched part of the movie Wizard of Oz while playing Pink Floyd’s album Darkside of the Moon and it was one trippy experience.  Just like all the stoners promised me, the music and the movie match up perfectly.  It was a kind of surreal musical soundtrack for the beloved classic.  Thus, Darkside of Oz came to life.

Here’s the deal, you start playing the CD right after the third lion roar, the one that happens right at the very start of the movie.  Then, turn the movie volume down and enter the world of Floyd.  Watch how when Dorothy enters the land of Oz, and the picture goes from black & white to color, the song “Money” sets the tone for the new world.   Listen to all of the lyrics and you will see that they relate to the story. 

The weird thing is, right after one of my family members watched the Darkside of Oz, the first thing he said was that he needed to take some drugs.  He was referring to his prescription drugs that he needed to remember to take at a certain time of day.  Yet, after listening to Pink Floyd for an hour, we all took it to mean something else.  For real, aren’t you supposed to take drugs before you watch Darkside of Oz?
