Pain and Suffering- Week 1

I’m am in a situation that is painful and miserable right now but I can’t discuss it in this blog in the public forum (I’m not sure exactly who reads my stuff). The people who are close to me are doing their best to be supportive. Let’s just say that I have 34 days until the suffering stops. Wish me luck. Send words of encouragement. Whatever inspirational quotes you have to give to someone who is feeling imprisoned and trapped, please pass them this way.

Quote of the Day

“There comes a time in a man’s life when to get where he has to go–if there are no doors or windows–he walks through a wall.”  –Rembrandt’s Hat 1972.

A Professor’s Words of Wisdom

“Failing out of college is like getting drunk; if you work long and hard enough at it, you’re bound to succeed.”

Road-trip to Atlanta, GA

Here I am, at 10:24 pm, anxiously awaiting my road trip to Atlanta, GA.  I get to see me and the hubby’s new apartment and the town and meet with some peeps about some gigs.  Then after my brief trip, I go back to D.C. to finish out teaching my summer classes, then back to Atlanta at the end of August.  Holey camole.  This is a wild summer for me folks.

I’m going to take some pics of our new abode and the surrounding town.  I hope it’s as cool as I hear it is. We’re hitting the road at midnight.  Nine hours, here we go…

Hello Piggly Wiggly shopping marts!

Hello Georgia peaches!

Hello clogged interstates!

Hello extremely hot temperatures!

As Borat says,”Wah wah wooo ee!”

It seems like the more technology we have, the less efficient we are and the less we know about each other.

Wise Words of the Tot #2

I sometimes wonder if there will ever be a point where I stop coveting stuff.  Like stop wanting a bigger iPod or a better car and such.  Well, I guess as long as there is still advertising and I sill have my eyesight, probably not.

2 Nickelback songs for the Price of 1

Watch this YouTube video where two of Nickelback’s hit songs, “Someday” and “How You Remind Me”, are combined to make a statement that their songs sound exactly the same.  But in this experiment, they actually managed to create a new song that’s better than each song individually.  It’s amazing how exactly the two different songs line up.  These guys are definitely working off of a songwriting formula. The new song is called “How You Remind Me of Someday”. Enjoy!

Test Results

I survived the colonoscopy AND endoscopy (sheesh) and now I know that I am healthy and most likely I DO NOT have Celiac Sprue.  My doctor took a biopsy and is double-checking for this under a microscope but he assured me that I’m o.k.  So this is good news!  I can eat all the yummy gluten and wheat that I want.  Here’s a run-down of my experience so that if anybody is going through this procedure, they know what to expect:

*The WORST part was the PREP for the procedure as opposed to the procedure itself (which I was asleep for).  Basically, once your done prepping for the exam, the worst is over.

*If you weigh less than 100 lbs., only take ONE Ducolax tablet.  Wow, that was a painful experience.

*Afterwards, you feel cleansed and drugged and actually better than when you went in there.  I lost 5 pounds after this ordeal.

*My throat hurt a little bit after the endoscopy so I ate lots of popsicles.

*When drinking the medicine liquid, choose the orange flavor packet.  It actually tasted o.k.  And make sure to chill the concoction a little bit before drinking it.  It tasted better cold.

*In general, the emptier your stomach, the easier it is.  So if you can go without eating for a little while, it’s less trips to the…um…you know.

All in all, the whole thing was not as bad as my imagination was making it out to be.
